Chef Jean-Michel Lorain is committed to transmit his passion for cooking.
That is why he created the School of cooking almost 20 years ago.  

 

 

 

The courses

 

The courses enable you to discover the gourmet universe of the Côte Saint-Jacques and to become acquainted with the major principles of today's cuisine, in a convivial atmosphere.

Three modules are proposed, which can be selected independently or together:
 

  • Participation : on Monday or Tuesday afternoons (One monday or tuesday per month, except on January, July and August, see our cooking lessons' planning and programs)

 

  • Demonstration : in the scholl of cooking, on request

 

  • Immersion : on request (This module can be organized from Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday, 6 people max.)

Participative class

Available in the kitchens of our 2-star restaurant in the Guide Michelin.

 

  • From 14h Welcoming coffee
  • 14h30 Handing-over of the aprons and presentation of the recipes to realize.
  • 14h45 It is around the stove and organized as a real kitchen brigade that you will participate in the development of the dishes under the attentive leadership of the Côte Saint Jacques’s chefs.
  • 17h30 End of class
  • 17h45 Tasting of the dishes in mini-portions with the chefs and the sommelier that will explain the harmony between the dishes and the wines

Public tariff : lesson at 125 euros per person

Immersion in kitchen

An exceptional stay in our kitchen brigade

 
1ST DAY
  • From 18h Setting up in kitchen and beginning of the service
  • From 21h Dinner (drinks included, except aperitif) in the chef’s private lounge, in front of the kitchen
  • Night at the Côte Saint-Jacques

2ND DAY
  • Breakfast
  • From 9h Setting up with the brigade
  • at 11h Lunch with Jean-Michel Lorain* *According to the chef’s availability
  • From 12h Service and « gunshot » (optional according to your schedule)

Tariff for 1 participant :
355 € for a room without a view on the river
465 € for a room with a view on the river


Accompanier tariff :

310 € per person
Including : accomodation with the participant, dinner, breakfast and lunch

  • In the afternoon, the participative cooking class is offered.

   WEDNESDAY
  • From 7h30 Breakfast Côte Saint Jacques
  • 9h30 to 12h Demonstrative cooking class by Jean-Michel Lorain, his kitchen chef or his pastry chef
  • according to a season theme
  • 12h to 12h30 Tasting of the dishes of the class in mini-portions and end of the lesson

445 € for a room without a view on the river
505 € for a room with a view on the river

Accompanier tariff :

Including : accomodation with the participant, dinner breakfast
and you can choose : an hour of care OR the demonstrative class

It was Michel Lorain who, over 30 years ago, decided to organize cooking lessons at the Côte Saint-Jacques during the low season, especially for the wives of his most loyal customers!

In 1996, Jean-Michel Lorain created the School of Cooking and housed it in a small 15-seat amphitheatre organized around a household kitchen.
